“Woo, that’s a nice theme!”

Featured, Wordpress Resources

I’ve been building websites for years. But I’m a designer at heart and while I’ve been enjoying the design element of creating a website, I’m not so keen on working on the ‘backend’ techie bits. It’s as important as the ‘frontend’ of a website, without it the design wouldn’t hold together and lack functionality but it’s laborious and uninspiring.

Then I discovered the power of Wordpress. I’ve been using Wordpress as a CMS (content management system) on websites for a while now. It takes care of all the techie elements for me and leaves me to do what I do best, the design. Extra functionality is just a matter of adding one of the many thousands of plugins available and because it’s open source costs are kept to a minimum. Themes were a different matter. Themes are like templates that you load into Wordpress to change its look and feel. Whilst you can change the graphics within a theme to suit your own design, I have found that many are found lacking when it comes to consistency of design, with page elements overlapping, columns that don’t align correctly, the list goes on.

The Discovery of Woo Themes

This particular website is a bit of a labour of love. I have had a blog (now deceased and replaced by this) giving advice to businesses and budding entrepreneurs on how to set up on the web for a few years and it was OK but nothing amazing to look at.

I wanted this blog to have the right look and whilst trawling the web for a theme to use that had consisitency of design throughout and was polished enough to want to put my name to, I stumbled across Woo Themes. I was bowled over by the simplicity and elegance of their designs and finally chose The Flash News Theme. This theme is ideally suited for this site, and unlike most other themes I have used in the past I have not had to alter code to get it to work, it worked perfectly just as it was.

All Woo Themes are blessed with their own options panel in the WP admin panel which allows you to alter all sorts of features such as the CSS style used (there are many presets) and background colour schemes. The options panel also allows me to add Google tracking codes, RSS feeds, control the number of posts that are shown on pages, maintain site advertising and even specify certain pages for certain tasks such as Archives.

Woo Themes also have a theme club which allows you to purchase their whole range of themes which is ideal if you are a designer or have lots of different websites to set up for your particular business ventures. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Woo Themes to anyone who wants a Wordpress based website for their business, I just wish I had found them sooner!

Wow! Thanks for the kind words. It’s always great to hear that our users are satisfied with our work, but also to see them doing amazing stuff with their blogs! Keep up the good work! :)
